April Ross

April Ross, a beach volleyball player American is part of a select category of females who have been awarded medals at multiple Olympics. She will be competing in Tokyo to compete for her third Olympic medal alongside Alix Klineman, who is a first time Olympian. Ross hopes to win more than her initial Olympic medal. Since she's 39 years old she could have her last shot. Nevertheless she is confident that winning the gold medal is in reach. Ross stated via NBC Boston: "If we do our best and even if we just play well, I think we could be able to win gold." Then I will also take the opportunity to try my luck. Ross born August 22nd, 1982 in Costa Mesa California. She lived there together with her parents. The athletic pursuits she pursued continued at Newport Harbor High School where she was a part of a number of sports. In addition to the indoor game, she also was a basketball player and also ran track in her pre-college days. But she stood out at this level. Based on her bio, she played an outside blocker as well as a middle hitter on the volleyball court during her high-school career. The results of her efforts were acknowledged by her being named 1999 Gatorade's Circle Of Champions National players of the year. She also captured the 2000 Orange County Athlete of the Year trophy for volleyball. Ross has been playing alongside Klineman since the year 2017. However, Ross's beach game was established well before this. In fact, she won several major championships while playing using two partners, one of whom is a volleyball icon. Ross teamed up along with Jennifer Kessy from 2007-2013, and was also Klineman's personal trainer. Together with Kessy Ross, she was a major force in the world circuit, winning a world title in 2009. They eventually won a silver medal in the 2012 Olympic Games in London. Misty Maytreanor (Jennings) and Misty Maytreanor took home gold overtaking them. It was fate that had them. Ross was Walsh Jennings' new partner after May-Treanor's retirement. They took home the bronze medal in beach volleyball at the Rio Olympics in 2016. After high school and years before she hit the sand professionally, Ross played to the Trojans at USC while a collegiate. The time she spent at USC was quite impressive. As a freshmen in 2000 the Trojans' performance earned her the Pac-10 as well as NCAA Young Player of the Year awards. The Trojans could also make it to the Final Four with her help. Her personal life was tense after a devastating defeat in her sophomore year however, she was capable of achieving the All-American title. Over the course of her final two seasons she led the Trojans to the top of the mountain and took home consecutive national championships. As an individual, she established herself as an all-time legend by winning the 2003-04 Honda Sports Award as the most outstanding female college volleyball player. Ross studied at USC in International Relations. Margie Ross did not get to see Ross reach beach volleyball's highest stage. Ross's mother died of breast carcinoma in 2001. Ross had just become sophomore at USC. Ross is still awed by her parents who passed away.
