Winona Ryder - Winona Lauro Horowitz was born in Winona Minnesota. Parents of Winona Ryder named her for the town she grew up in. Michel Horowitz is her father as well as Cynthia Palmer is her mother. Ryder's dad was born into an ethnically Jewish family. Ryder considers her self Jewish. Ryder is the younger sister of Uria and two half-siblings Jubal and Sunyata. When Ryder was only seven her family relocated into Mendocino County California. There they didn't have electricity. Ryder who loved reading aged 12, became a bookworm since Ryder did not have access to television. Ryder started taking acting classes at American Conservatory Theatre when she turned 12 years old. She landed her debut role on the big screen in 1986, when she was 15 years young. Ryder was subject to bullying in high school. Ryder hoped her career as an actress would bring about change. However, that didn't happen. Still she continued pursuing her goals. Beetlejuice the 1988 Tim Burton film, was her first big break. Ryder played successful roles for numerous films. In 1993, Ryder was in the running twice for Academy Awards.
